Darius jaan I should've added "(be honest)" to the question and I see some are being honest, which is good! I was also going to use this as the original question "Knowing what you know now, do you wish you were born blue eyed blonde hair Western European/American?" but the question became too long and I shortened it.
Just last week you posted a picture and reponse from the late Shah that he wishes his people behaved like the Swedish. So obviously Shah and many many people "wished" that either Iranians were born Swedish or that at least they were born Swedish so that they didn't have to deal with all this Iranian crap! Of course if they're honest in the bottom of their hearts!
Actually it's not that far fetched, that movie Precious that girl in the movie was dreaming about a young Fabio sweeping off her feet and her dreams were all blue eyed blonde hair!
I know you don't get to choose where you're born and many who are born in position of wealth or power use that as a license to commit crimes (against humanity or otherwise) instead of looking at it as a privilege. The question is not about having the option to choose, rather if you "wish".
Well Esfand Aashena Jan
Your response is a perfect illustration of what the Shah was trying to point out and which you clearly did not understand.
The Shah was talking about political "behavior" not "nationality" in response to the recurrent criticism by a Swedish Journalist of what he deemed was the "absolute nature" of his rule.
Poem - Vaghti To Migoei Vatan - Mostafa Badkobehei
But then you are not alone to be confused ... the majority of Iranians who supported the creation of an Islamic Republic pledging loyalty to an Arab Sickle and identifying themselves (to this day) to the Palestinian and Arab Cause were just as confused:

Kind Regards,
DK
Come on! "behavior" vs "nationality"?! VOT?!!
Why didn't Swedish "behave" like Iranians? Why did Iranians "behave" the way they did against the Shah? Why? why? why?! It's easy to ask questions like Ahmadinejad used to do, or criticize like Shah used to do when it became to criticising "his people" but not when it became to "his highness" and creating the Grand Daddy of them all = SAVAK!
You know I always say the legacy of a person is what can be written on his/her tombstone. I believe Shah's legacy can be described in one word = SAVAK!
No matter how you slice it, Shah prefered he was ruling in Sweden instead of estinking eyeranians! His followers are constantly bashing estinking eyeranians. It all comes from low self-confidence and low self-esteem or as we call it in Farsi oghdeh so let's make it easy for Shah and everyone else who feels the same and say they wished they were born somewhere else!

Darius jaan I see that you're not going to change anything as it comes to Shah like Charleton Heston used to say from my dead cold hands .... ;-)
So let's look at this from another way, knowing what you know now and where you are now, what are some of the things that makes you proud to be an Iranian? If proud is a strong word, how about what are some of the things that you "like" about being an Iranian?
EA Question: "So let's look at this from another way, knowing what you know now and where you are now, what are some of the things that makes you proud to be an Iranian?"
DK Answer:
Savak Officers like him ... make me Very Proud ...
NO REGRETS: Ex Savak Officer Hossein Yazdi Proud to have served King and Country
I "LIKE" HIM ... VERRRRRRRY VERRRRRRRY MOOCH !
Darius jaan I think you may have had too much French wine tonight! Here I made it easier and gave some multiple choice questions!
A very good question. A lot of people are shy to answer it.
I don't wish I was born Western. I wish however, I was born in a country the people of which did not value being from a different country (seyyeds, bowing down to Mecca five times a day, being servants of the Soviets, etc.)
No I wish I was born an Arab because then I knew what my culture, language and priority was/is. Best of all I could impose my culture (islam) on others whether they like it or not!
