If I’m an advocate for anything, it’s to move. As far as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food. It’s a plus for everybody.

You and your friends' definition of bourgeoisie is not quite right. The Iranian bourgeoisie mostly caused the failure of Constitutionalism, then formed the Toudeh Party to sell Iran to the Russians when that didn't work they got behind Mossadegh then the Akhoonds that eventually brought us the Republic of Murder and Mayhem. What you are describing is the Khordeh-B.'s that got rich on the back of American inspired reforms opening Mercedes and BMW dealerships etc.
Dear Fozolie, here is the pure and simple meaning of bourgeoisie, take it for what it is worth.I've been to LA on many occasions and my friend's definition of B.'s is to the point. as for your reference to khordeh-B.'s, you took me back to 40 years ago. it needs a separate discussion but for now I stand behind my quote and the classic definition of B.'s
ديدى كمال؟ جر زدن داشتيم رفيق؟
I can look up a dictionary so I consider the copy and paste in that size as rude. You cannot change the rules in the middle of the game.
Aziz e del e baraadar, what rule did I change? Are you trying to create a new meaning for Iranian B,'s? plain and simple, we had Baazaaris who for whatever reasons supported Khomeini and we had upper class and upper middle class whose interests were in conflict with IRI and majority of them ended up in LA. Most of them were able to maintain their wealth and do even better (noosh jooneshoon) what part of it is historically incorrect? As for the size of letters, you are right, it is rude. my apologies. Next time I will type it myself.
So...are you saying that they should have gone all the way to LA to commit suicide?
Dear Ex_CoP, I merely quoted a colleague whose profession is research in the field of history. He stated a historical fact (don't take chelo kababi in a literal way. what he meant was "business as usual") I did not make any judgement. You can interpret it any which way you wish. Cheers.
I was pulling your leg. I was not offended. One day I will write how the wretched story of one of the descendants of these White Russians in Paris brought me to my senses (unlike our Merc and Kabab dealers they had not held on to their wealth). The use of the term also rekindled memories of the hot debates of my Marxist friends aeons ago before they started calling an Akhoond "Agha".
Speaking of khordeh B.'s, I listened for hours and hours to the same debates and still don't know if they can be counted as revolutionary forces or not :) it even got worse, there was khordeh B.'s of shahri and khordeh B.'s of gheyr e shahri. what a bunch of hogwash. If I had a dime for every hour that I spent listening to such nonsense. I can't wait to read about your experience with your Russian colleague. Cheers
Who is that colleague? Does he/she have a name?
@Amir
He is called "The one who is well versed in history"
Pity every Russian that I know off has taken whatever he/she could from Russia and has come to the UK.
Before anyone starts picking on me, he is retired as a professor but still very active in research, writing books and articles.
