Archaeologists have discovered a human skeleton that dates back to about 5,000 years ago, in the city of Babol in the Iranian province of Mazenderan.

Muhammed Fazli, the head of the team of archaeologists, said that the skeleton belongs to a girl aged 13-14, with ornaments and stone ornaments around her neck.

He recalled that the so-called treasure hunters have also made unauthorized excavations in the region, which has complicated the works.

The first archaeological excavations in Iran took place in Susa in 1850 under the leadership of Europeans. At that time, Iran gave all authorizations for archaeological excavations to French researchers.

Iran began its first excavations in 1937.
