Draft of the invitation to a national demonstration of Iranians on February 11, 2014; the anniversary of the Iranian revolution demanding the fulfillment of the promises of Ayatollah Khomeini and the rights of the Iranian nation
Fifty years ago in his historical speech, Martin Luther King Jr., 100 years after the emancipation order by President Abraham Lincoln, by referring to the Constitution of the United States of America demanded the fulfillment of the legal rights of the black minority in the United States. This historical speech and movement initiated chains of events, which eventually lead to the granting of equal rights to all the minorities in the United States to the extent that today an African American is the president of the United States. In part of his speech, Martin Luther King Jr. stated:
“In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds. But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.”
On February 11 of this 2014, we arrive at the verge of the 35th year anniversary of the 1979 revolution in Iran. A revolution in which many Iranian male and female, teachers and workers, left and right, religious and non, merchants and clerks, Jewish and Sunni, Spiritual and Secular, Kurd and Baluch, Arab and Azeri, ….and…. participated. Many Iranians with the hope of obtaining more “freedom” and political, civil, social, political “independence”, believed in the promises of a perceived as a spiritual clergy : Ayatollah Khomeini; and trusted their leadership to him. The covenants, pacts and promises of Ayatollah Khomeini in his speeches, announcements and interviews have been recorded in the written, audio and video archives of history and cannot be denied. Trusting such promises, many Iranians; Muslim and non-Muslim, Shia and Sunni, Atheists and believers, with the hope of the fulfillment of the promised goals, 9 months later, in a national referendum voted for the Constitution of the Islamic Republic.
However after taking power, the leaders of the Islamic Republic and their successors, not only broke and not fulfilled the made promises, but they even took away many of the rights that the Iranian nations have had prior to the revolution. The promise and trust of the Iranian nation like any other legal contract, is a bilateral contract in which, if one party fails to fulfil its pacts, the other party in addition to having the right to demand the fulfillment of the promises, also has the right to void the contract or remove and change its executives and administrators.
35 years have passed the revolution and it is time, that we Iranians who reside outside the country to gather in front of the Embassies and other official centers of the Islamic Republic regime of the supreme leader “to cash this check”. Today it is obvious that the regime of the supreme leader and the Islamic Republic has given the Iranian People “a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.” This is a national call to us Iranians to gather in peaceful manner wherever we are to demand our rights.
This demand of fulfillment of promises is from the successor of Ayatollah Khomeini, the supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei and in the next level from the three heads of the executory, legislative and judiciary branches of the government, meaning President Hassan Rouhani, Head of the parliament Ardeshir Larijani and the head of the judiciary Sadegh Larijani. If promises not fulfilled, in the future steps, actions and decisions, the Iranian nation will determine what action to take against these issuers of the bad checks with “non-sufficient funds”. 35 years of waiting is enough!
It is time that by starting from ourselves we invite everyone from all thinking, religions, beliefs, sects, groups, ideologies, races, nationalities and organizations to participate in this national demonstration of our demand for the fulfillment of the failed promises. We are inviting all the artists, sportspersons, lawyers, writers; political, civil, social, human rights, religious, ideological activists and leaders, businessmen, workers, ethnicities, etc….to once again with unity and solidarity gather to demand the fulfillment of our basic human, legal, civil, social, labor, ethnic, minority, national and religious…. Rights.
This call is primarily addressed to the millions of Iranians residing outside of Iran, to gather peacefully in front of the centers of the Islamic Republic regime such as embassies and banks wearing red, white and green dresses (the colors of the Iranian flag).
We hope that you distribute this article and make it viral by contacting your social circles and friends by phone, email, pamphlets, blogs, Facebook, tweeter, media, publications and other social media. If you have the email and the websites of the artists, sportsmen, lawyers and lawmakers, political, civil, social, human rights, religious, ideological, business and ethnic activists and leaders also send them this invitation to participate.
If a person or group does not agree with a part of this initiation but agree with its concept, you may revise it to your preference asking your friends and contacts to participate in this peaceful, national, non- ideological, non-religious gathering. Iran belongs to ALL of us. It is time to demand our basic rights and fulfillment of broken promises with a national movement. By starting from ourselves, we can initiate and create a wave of change in the lives of our children and ourselves.
Note: Signatories, participants and those who approve this demonstration are completely independent of each other. This call and participation in the demonstration does not represent the approval of the beliefs, strategies and goals of another participating person or group.
