Firedup...I will contact him. This is a good one. If this was true, it would be all over the internet. I have not found anything yet.....
Iranian.com is becoming a worse joke day by day. They should consider renaming it NIAC.com. The degree of comment censorship there is ridiculous. This character "Kourosh Ighani" is full of it. Daniel Pipes, whatever you think of him (and I would disagree with him on many issues) has not said any such thing. Here is the original article with the quote about "brown-skinned people (sic)" and Pipes's later comment on the matter. Judge for yourself. Again, I am not saying I agree with Pipes, but Mr. Ighani is clearly being dishonest in the extreme:
http://www.danielpipes.org/198/the-muslims-are-coming-the-muslims-are-coming
Pipes's comment: "This sentence has over the years attracted considerable attention. My goal in it was to characterize the thinking of Western Europeans, not give my own views. In retrospect, I should either have put the words "brown-skinned peoples" and "strange foods" in quotation marks or made it clearer that I was explaining European attitudes rather than my own."
Thank you Amir for your clarifications. I do not agree with Pipes on many issues as well. Ighani is clearly dishonest but what can we expect from NIAC supporters. Iranian.com is also dishonest as they claim to review content for accuracy. They do not. the Iranian.com format these days does not allow for real debate and you would not be allowed to point to the dishonest character of Ighani. Ighani is a lier. Period.
Amir, One more question... What about the part saying Pipes called for Iranians in America to be thrown into concentration camps? Where the hell is Ihgani getting that from?
I have a tough time beleiving any thing that comes out of the mouth NIAC folks. I am going to go now and check on my hygine!
Iranian.com, once a respectable Iranian site, has now been turned into Niloufar Parsi and the Seven Dwarfs!
And Trita is their new Prince!
"Some day my prince will come
Some day we'll meet again
And away to his castle we'll go
To be happy forever I know
Some day when spring is here
We'll find our love anew
And the birds will sing
And wedding bells will ring
Some day when my dreams come true"

Dear AI, I did a little Internet search and found the following (let me repeat that I disagree with a lot of what Daniel Pipes believes, including his view that the US should be supporting Bashar Assad against his opponents in Syria -- I'm not sure if NIACis would find that view to be objectionable). But, once again, judge for yourself and don't take a NIACi's word for it:
http://www.danielpipes.org/2309/why-the-japanese-internment-still-matters
For what it's worth, he has stated, "I do not specifically endorse [the] notion of Muslims having to register their whereabouts. I raised the subject of the Japanese internment because it "still matters" in its influence on the U.S. public debate, and not because I advocate the internment of anyone today."
And, "So, I write here again: I am not calling for the internment of Muslims. I am calling for an ideological war on radical Islam and the understanding that Islamists are our enemy. I see anti-Islamist Muslims as critical to the war on radical Islam and far from wanting them interned, see their active participation as critical to winning the conflict."
On multiple occasions, Iranian.com has refused to allow purely factual comments that I have made. Just today, "Dr. Professor Mr. Mohammad Ala" responded to a comment from Mort Gilani blaming Khomeini for extending the war with Iraq another 6 years. Ala said that Gilani didn't know what he was talking about since he didn't even know how long the war lasted. I, in turn, wrote a comment that Mort Gilani was referring to the period from 1982 (when Iraq offered a truce on terms favorable to the IRI) to 1988, when Emam finally "drank the poisoned chalice". I did not resort to any personal attacks, because I didn't want to give the site an excuse to disallow my comment. It didn't matter anyway: my comment wasn't allowed. That is just one example among many.
Thanks again Amir re the Pipes quotes! Clearly Ighani is misqouting and lying. Iranian.com has become a joke and there is no real debate percisely because of the example you give us re Ala and your attempt to respond to his dishonest posts. I have given up on posting to the nonsense on that site. It does not matter how polite you write, it will not get published as the site is actively promoting a certain political veiw through lies and dishonesty.
Someone should let Pipes know about Ighani's defamatory comments. Hopefully, Pipes will sue him.
Dear Amir--please do not forget to add "world-renowned filmmaker" to Professor Doctor Ala's credentials.
Dear AO, we are a nation of "world-renowned filmmakers", poets, and prophets. May I humbly suggest that we change the (former) national symbol of the Shir-o-Khorshid to a stick figure of a dude patting himself on the back for being the most awesome civilization in the Milky Way?
