Last straw was putting iraj Khan blog as main feature with the request for civility! Can you remember his true civility coming out with his comments on blogs of ILoveIran and MaryamJoon? I mean he never seemed like shy or easily intimidated type to me. One example -
http://iranian.com/main/blog/iloveiran/pretending-be-iranian-dot-com-pretendingtobe-iranian-com.html
khar! that is funny. probably the next to go is the little orange goldfish.
Thank you for pointing out the missing slogan! Good eyes!
I hope they won't have a new slogan like "Everything is Islamic!"
By the way, I also posted a similar post on IC on the subjet of the missing slogan, but it been pending approval for better part of the day which may not even see the light of day....
MJavid aziz, ironically I was thinking the same thing :)
Jenab Shepesh, yes noticed the return of that character Iraj, I seldom get irked but that character irks me royally. Anyways as the old saying goes: Iranian.com is dead, long live the Iroon.com
Dear Yolanda, it may happen you'll never know
Wow! So IC does not want people to mention & notice that their trade-mark slogan is gone?
OMG! It must be a touchy subject for them!
Latest Update: My post below on IC was rejected :) =======================
Everything is no longer "NOT Sacred"!
Just noticed the slogan "Noting is Sacred" has been removed from Iranian.com name. Naturally one can assume everything is now sacred once more! Baba make up your minds is it or isn't it? Shol Kon Seft Kon Bazi In Mellat e Mostaazaf ro Dochar e Sardargomi Falsafi Mikone Bekhoda..... :-)
=========================================================
Dear Yolanda you said it, indeed it seems to be a touchy subject!
If your blog (this blog) is allowed on IC, it will generate the most comments! I have no doubt! It will be the most popular blog on IC! Everyone will show up and have a heated debate! Well, since they rejected your post, that is their loss! I have a feeling that very few people have noticed that the slogan is gone!
End of an era in so many different ways...
You guys are so funny. I mean JJ left Iranian.com moons ago, and you still follow Iranian.com and when it will do dis or do dat? Jeeeez, if JJ had one epsilon belief IC would be OK, why would be leave the very baby he brought to life 17, ooops, now almost 18, years ago?
In my book the so-called "end of an era" occurred when JJ said bye-bye, and that was over a year ago.
IC brand was JJ, as iroon.com's brand now is JJ. It's all about the brand. JJ's presence is _the_ brand.
Hey, mr Khar! I have no problem with people having sympathy with the Islamic regime, that would be their problem!
But dear iranian.com: At least, please be honest about it. If your site admin is a "khan" or "khanoom", who can attack and dislike anyone "seriously" critical of Islamic regime, yet has the ability to censor the comments from the poor victims of his/her attacks, and exclude other members from the site, then come clean about it and call it "NIAC.com". Then change the slogan to" "nothing is sacred, except for the sacred cow, the swedish meatball"!
LOL
I no longer contribute or read that site. I think it is funded by unsavory global activities. Azadeh was right to boycott that place from the outset.
Shepesh jaan --the most hilarious thing about this "Iraj Khan" blog is that you have two of the biggest abusers on IC, Iraj Khan - F/K/A blocked Mola Nasreddin and "Parviz," A/K/A Wahid, Nasirkhosrow and many other usernames, complaining about lack of civility. These are the same people who were blocked for abusing others--on many occasions in Wahid's case. Said even blocked Wahid himself under his Nasirkhosrow username. Wasn't it Iraj Khan who would stalk Fred on his blogs, and along with his buddy Sargord Pirooz, post weather reports on Tel Aviv, implying that Fred was writing from Israel. And Wahid is the guy who set up Sourcewatch articles and entire websites dedicated to bashing IC and Said Amin (and JJ) personally. Now he's all for creating a good image for IC!!! I don't know if Said is just that naive, or he's just pretending to be that naive.
The bottom line is that IC has lost its unique feature, which was open discussion within the Iranian community. If Said thinks that a psychology article (or a poem) which you can find on a million other sites can create "cliks" on his site, he is mistaken. Just look at the number of clicks on his front page. You add them all up and they won't eqaul the number of clicks on two of Fred's blogs in one day.
And yeah...we'll wait to see Wahid become the saviour of IC. That'll be the day... :-)
Jenab Bavafa, you are right end of an era at IC was when Jahanshah left. I personally don’t post anything on IC anymore except for one or 2 times since the new owners took over, with this last one which was rejected makes 3. On the other hand some of us or maybe all of us or at least the ones posted comments here including me feel kind of nostalgic towards the IC for what it used to be, and what it stood for philosophically. It’s sort of like as if I tell you although the end on an era for all of us and Iran was events of 1979, we should not think about or wanting to know what is happening there. Sometimes nostalgic bonds with someone, something or someplace is not easily broken Or at very least you like to know what has become of them, even thought they are not what they use to be.
I don't think we need to end our era. The web server and format have changed but the old IC people are still here. There are more original and worthy articles on Iroon.com than they are on IC, however, because they are not placed right, they don't get the adequate exposure. I think some of these articles should be featured prominently somewhere instead of falling through the proverbial crack.
Well said, Firedup!
Thank God for Iroon.com. It is a breath of fresh air. I just joined earlier today and it is like the good old days of Iranian.com. I see I am among my good old friends, never mind that we may have had our disagreements, but at least we could vent it free from "approval" - why am I still using double quotes? (sorry I am still conditioned by the new Iranian.com's formating tools - which are none for comment).
I still refuse to be resentful or God forbid disrespectful toward Iranain.com. This site is after all where I found a vast number of online friends and foes and for this reason alone I am deeply grateful to JJ. I will continue to keep a presence on Iranian.com, out of a habit, but I must say after Fred's last week's decision not to publish any more blogs, I was deeply disappointed and made my feelings known by publishing a blog to that effect.
So, I am very fortunate to have found my old and lost online family here. I owe it to Fred and of course to JJ.
AO jan he is a shrewd business man. I think he was made an offer he could not refuse, perhaps he was persuaded that the readership and input would rise. I doubt if he is naive. What gets me is the LIE that people were intimidated into participating. Everyone is allowed 2 blogs on IC, and even if you do not comment you can DISLIKE and LIKE comments. What this is about is controlling output to sanitise image of the country and sweeping many unsavoury truths under the carpet. I do not like mind control.
Thanks for the blog Khar, I can't believe they have rejected your blog, that shows the level of intolerance in IC under the management of an amateur.
Well said AO, Said Amin is either naive or pretends to be naive. In either case he made a number of poor decisions with his Big Brother initiative being the last of such mistakes. I left the sacred IC sometimes ago in protest but have found it difficult to find the alternative in iroon.com. This site is extremely uninviting and one doesn't know what JJ wants to achieve with all those useless statistics that has taken the lion share of the first page, and why he has allocated such a small window to the original material. IC also suffered the same problem but to his credit, Said Amin has now addressed this issue in his last redesign.
In response to the takeover of the IC by the shameless individuals such as Iraj Khan, we can only throw our support behind this site and hope that JJ would address the design flaws.
Like RR, I am happy to see that some of the old gang who were instrumental in the success of the IC have gathered up here.
Well-said! Divaneh! Both sites need to improve if they don't want to become extinct!
This site has its flaws and needs overhaul, but at least you can still have a real-time conversation here and you don't need to wait for approval to voice your opinions and you can still point out this site's shortcomings!
On IC, you can't even say the slogan is gone! OMG! That is so petty and stifling!
I truly hope both sites improve, so we all can benefit!
Here is my 2cents,
First I am so happy to see Divaneh here as I have always enjoyed and respected his/her contribution.
But in regards to the IC (old and new) I believe since it is largely a member-contributed content, it is up to us how we make out of this site. Yes the format could improve but many of us (at least I so I have not spoken for others) left the old IC not because of the format but because of some of the members and their vulgarity and contempt for others.
I have been enjoying this site's content so far and hope we can keep the healthy conversation going even when we disagree with one another. And I hope JJ can be open to members opinion as with us Ali meemoneh o hozesh.
Mehrdad
Jenab Divaneh, baba what took you so long its good to see you around here aziz. I think you finally got the invitation we sent :-)
Khar I got it through the censor today and failed another fairly innocuous one. I don't know how much JJ got for Iranian.Com but he should have given the regular bloggers first refusal.
http://iranian.com/posts/view/post/14278
Thinking further about this, since Amin has dropped the slogan, does that mean we can stick it on Iroon? Well JJ, how about it?
I like the new i.com and glad they dropped the slogan just like JJ did the first chance he got. I just wish they can stop the moderation of comments and instead focus on deleting or blocking the abusers that were rampant on that site and was getting worse by the day.
I think SA finally put the brakes on letting go of his website down the drain day by day! Maybe moderating comments was just for good measure but I think eventually he'll get rid of it after a while.
I expect to see far better material in that website and better discussions, albeit not 300+ comments just to show there are more than one way to insult!
Shepesh jaan, what did I say when this whole new "moderation" system started on IC? I said "get ready for the NIACiszation" of the site. Well, it didn't take long. A pro-NIAC article is posted on the front page. Now we know what this was all about. :-))
Dear Yolanda I wish I shared your optimism about the old IC. For now it seems that it has embraced censorship and is overcrowded by hypocrites who one day deletes very civil comments from their blog and the next write in praise of civil discourse.
Bavafa1 Jaan, it is good to see you too. I can see that you are now officially the number 1. I also hope that discussions here stay polite, civil and without outburst of obscenity and baseless accusations.
Khar aziz, unfortunately I have not received the invitation yet and am more of a party crasher. Good to see you around after such a long time.
And Roger Rabbit and Divaneh Jaan(s) - good to see you both here.
Wonder if Said Amin has logged on here and DISLIKIing all our comments.
Seems to be a person who has disliked every comment on this blog even if it just says "hello".
:-)
Thank you AO jaan the pleasure is really mine. I had lost you guys and now I found you again. I know that some may not welcome my presence here but hey as the saying goes: "Better the Devil You Know" :))
Good observation Shepesh.
Faramarz is back at IC, taking part in the NIAC blog.
To all of you good Characters, very good to see you all on Iroon.com lets have some fun guys and gals.
The recent collective experience, and horror, with the new management of IC feels almost like watching a long drawn out bad surreal Fellini movie, at least an hour too long! The most "humorous" part might be that how just about everyone who could purchase a website thinks they're qualified to build an on-line community, without being able to even speak the language.
The current reduced "metrics" of IC might be the ultimate irony in all of this.
On a comparativel basis, level of the content in here and there more and more feels like the difference between the old Etellat Haftegi and Etellat Kodakan!
The owner of IC lived 3 years in Iran.....he owns 7 ethnic dating sites: Greek, Albanian, Arabic, Italian, Armenian, etc
http://hollywood.greekreporter.com/2009/01/07/said-amin-the-eligible-king-of-ethnic-online-dating/
MashGhasem, so good to see you here! The moderation is totally unprofessional. The guy even butts in to cheer on a certain point of view and censors things that don't fit his agenda. It is a slick package selling something dark. I had to leave.
Dear Mashghasem & Shepesh (and everyone else) nice to see you all here where freedom to write your thoughs is still respected!
I was unjustly being blocked from that site. There is a rough censorship on that
site. All Iranians should boycat or show their unhappiness about what is going on over
there.
