One of the surveys I posted on 17th Feb 2013 was titled;

Are Iranian authentic foods HEALTHY?

About 68% answered yes. I am not a cook but know how some of the Iranian foods are prepared. One of the major problems with such conventional foods is over cooking and hence the expression;

"bayad khoob bepazeh ke jabuofteh"

As far as I know any food should NOT be over cooked. It is a fact we judge our food on taste and look rather than nutrition values. Once you start comparing Iranian foods with world popular or western foods you realise we over cook our food.

Maybe this is a habbit we got from our past. Religious people do not like to have blood in their meet, for example. But still food should not be over cooked on this assumption.

Iranian food healthy or not, a nation needs to eat good food. I do not see it happening in our society. Every time I am visiting Iran and go shopping get concerned what the public have to buy.

Maybe I am wrong but this is an issue I do not see citizens to concern themselves with. They have a lot of other problems to worry about. How would you approach this? If, for examples, schools provide free healthy meals to kids, will they want to eat healthy food at home too? Or is it just sufficient to talk about it in the media?

Healthy brain is in healthy body and food is one of the major factors for health body.
