Reading some of the commentaries by fellow members of this site written in support of Trump’s latest executive order had me wondered, angered, ashamed and baffled by the sheer magnitude of their hostility towards their own countrymen, supporting detention of a college student returning from a trip home for winter break or somebody’s grandparents as potential terror suspects! This happened on the exact same day when there were scores of U.S. officials from governors to members of congress to mayors, out on the record, condemning Trump’s actions, demanding immediate release of the people who were detained. But then again for the nth time it proved to me, without any shadow of a doubt that we fully deserve the Islamic Republic. We are advocating the same conduct as I.R.I. and would do no less crimes, had we were given the opportunity. Some even calling for nuclear attack against our homeland on the exact same day when huge crowds gathered at the airports nationwide to protest against racist acts of this administration. These were Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics, Christians, Jews, Muslims defending my rights as a first generation immigrant in this country. Perhaps not surprisingly, at least in Boston, there were very little participation from Iranian Americans. As usual we expect someone else to do our dirty work for us! A collective shame on us, to our 2500 years of civilization when it has failed to teach us the very basic respect for one another. BTW, most of those contributors have written their point of view as an American looking down on the unfortunate public who don’t carry an American passport! For these fellows I have the following message: To Trump and his likeminded people we are nothing but a bunch of sand niggers. I’m afraid that you are in for some rude awakening!
p.s. Please, please, please, do not bother lecturing me about the conduct of I.R.I. You would be preaching to the already converted, as I have displayed many times on my previous comments.
A collective shame on us ... we fully deserve the Islamic Republic. We are advocating the same conduct as I.R.I. and would do no less crimes, had we were given the opportunity.
To do what? to go and protest what? a legal order by the U.S government? where was every one when obama banned immigrants from Iraq for six months? where was every one when Jimmy Carter banned people from Iran for sometime and had every one registered? (Oh How soon we forget!) , how about the fact that issuing a visa is a privilidge not a right!
Folks these protests has nothing to do with rights (Funny untill last week everyone didn't like moslems, now they are all in Love with them!) its the fact that leftists and anarchists do not like Trump and use any occasion to subbotage his presidency. They can't seem to get that you can't win all the times, sometimes you loose, and you loose you move on!
Shame should go to people who forgot about their homeland in less than two decades while second generation cubans in U.S still care about theirs!
"Muslims in Muslim countries should take a long look at average Americans standing up for minorities. Too few in our countries do the same." Sami Shah
I just read this in Karim Sadjadpour's twitter account and it was exactly what I was thinking last night that many Americans were protesting and many getting arrested to protect my rights. It was amazing!!!
What do we do for Afghans for example in Iran.
Shame on us for not being able to see the light, while we're lost in the dark... Shine on us, President Trump... something like that...Oops, I almost forgot... please make sure you will read MRX's comment one more time...
It is all due to anti Islamic feelings. This feeling is so strong that made some of us totally blind with hate. The understanding is so basic and naive that if the comments these people use towards Muslims are used for jews then everyone scream RACIST.
Great Essay KAmal.
Happy Fajr to you :)))
Hope to see you back in iran, with mortgage paid off, kids all grown up and a new regime so we can have some Doggie Sweat:)))
Just curious why Iran is on the list, but not Afghanistan?
I am not saying Afghanistan should be on the list, I hope no country and nobody is on the ban list!
Hi! Mehrban,
I like your post a lot! There are some kind people in America, they have big hearts!
Dear MRX, you are correct. It is true that once the executive order is signed it will become the law of the land unless it is reversed either by congress (highly unlikely) or through the judiciary system. In the meanwhile, the citizens of this country have the RIGHT guaranteed by the constitution to voice their opinion and show their objection to discriminatory laws aimed at certain groups of people. And you are right again, the word Muslim has become such a dirty word that anybody associated with it is subconsciously considered less than human, so most people have programed their minds to look the other way. Just imagine if the same ban was imposed on, let’s say France and UK which coincidently both countries have issues with homegrown “Terrorists”!! Trump is telling us in our face, what he intends to do but sadly we have a great number of people here and elsewhere who are sugarcoating president’s remarks and playing the role of apologists. It is ironic that the same people who criticize the Islamic Republic of Iran are jumping on Trump’s bandwagon when on certain issues both of them preaching pretty much the same thing, starting with their disregards for human rights. Folks, this is not rocket science. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it is a duck. Thank you all for your contributions to this blog. Hello Docter, I'll take you on your offer. Though the Shams beer is on me :)
Kamal Fm
It is on then. but i insist of Doggie sweat:)
Look. One point has been driven home lately on the airwaves and nobody has seemed to pay much attention to it and that is the fact that almost a year or so ago, it was The Obama administration that even brought up the idea that there are certain countries of "particular concern" for which special considerations need to be implemented, so the idea was on the backburner for a while, a motion that was initiated and an idea floated by THE DEMOCRACTS my friend.
The real issue here is why do American-iranians have a tendency to take issues personally and have the tendency to think that there ...is this ill-fated law that is directed right at us with the intention to destroy us , etc, which is accompanied by all the emotional show-downs at the airports. What is the matter? Can't they tolerate a few extra minutes of conversation? What have they got to hide? Don't they owe at least this much to their "adopted" or not! new country? Wanna have the cake and eat it to then i guess!! They took an oath to protect this country after all, now they go berserk at even the thought of some simple change?? Small price to pay for a lifetime of prosperity and fotune, would'nt you say?
And...you have the audacity to compare What the IRI does to an executive order by Trump. I guess trump is so hated and so despised that no matter what anyone say would be construed as "defending" a vicious, womanizer , criminial that he is and the decisions he makes would inevitably and unquestionably wrong and misguided. No matter what! As if the world has not seen its share of dirty , filthy rulers of various backgrounds.
This is far from your little duck analogy friend. Don't even go there:)
