Dr.  Abdol Madjid Madjidi (1929-2014) has passed away. Educated in France and the United States, he was deputy director of the Plan Org. in charge of budget, Assistant to Prime Minister Hoveida and Director of the Budget Bureau (1967), Minister of Agricultural Products & Consumer Affairs (1967-68), Minister of Labor & Social Affairs(1968-73), Minister of State & Director of the Plan & Budget Organization (1973-77), arrested by the Bakhtiar government, escaped from prison and fled to Paris (1979).

Abdol Madjid Madjidi  was married to the famous Opera Singer Monir Vakili with whom he had two daughters Scheherazade (a.k.a. ZaZa) and Djamileh. Vakili died in a car accident in Belgium on February 28, 1983 as her husband's car collided with a tank. They had been driving to an informal gathering with prominent diplomats.

Dr.  Abdol Madjid Madjidi is survived by his two daughters and grandchildren.
