The Kurds had a very ambiguous position early on when the first crackdowns against peaceful demonstrators against Assad started.
They chose neutrality rather than standing up to Assad's tyranny. Once the situation went from bad to worse they started playing both sides. Opposing the islamists but supporting Assad.
Yet never offered support to the Secular Free Syrian Army which was being Armed by Turkey.
So one can legitimately question the Western Propaganda which claimed to present the Kurds as
"democrats' as opposed to Erdogan's so called "tyranny".
The situation in the region is far more complex and is bound to become worse as years go by.
Clearly Obama's "red lines" will have far reaching consequences for decades to come.
