Theortically, it might sounds like a noble idea but with the Islamists of all brands who by virtue of their religious mandate are not interested in democracy or inclusion of others, it's sheer stupidity. We saw what happened to Iran, Hamas, and almost in Egypt when Islamist were included in the process of democracy...and they made a mockery of the whole democratic process of inclusion and multiparty coalition building. When are we going to learn our lesson?
I also have to add, that those who are interested in Islamist being included in the process of democracy are either incredibly naive or have a slef-servign agenda of their own.
Firedup: Not so fast.
As you may know, or you could chose to deny it, majority of Iranians revolted against Shah and voted for the Islamist and if it was not for the political Islam and a chance of showing itself, most of us would have never learned how miserable they are at running things. So in essence, by giving them a chance, they (political Islam) have proven themselves as incompetent and not worthy of governance, hence such disillusion/dissatisfaction with the regime in Iran by Iranians.
In Egypt case, Islamist had the same opportunity and blew it but instead of letting the process go thru its course and letting people to boot them out thru elections, the military chose guns and sticks. Now they can claim they are the victim and that claim will resonate with many who look at things objectively.

P.S. There is no such a thing as a good dictator.
The opportunity cost for this kind of experiment and devastation are staggering and the devastation irreperable. Imagine if Lincoln had waited for all the southern states to come around on their own and abolish salvery. You don't give power to bullies, period.
I rather have a benevolent dictator than to give the control of entire nation to a bunch of thugs. These kind of experiments are too costly and frankly stupid.
As I said before, those who support Islamist taking over have their own self-serving agenda. It is also telling that some people don't see Islamists as dictators who just happen to use the democratic process in their own advantage.
You don't teach your child not to play with matches by pushing him into a burning building. There is got to be some better way than to allow violent, brutal Islamists to burn your house before you realize that you can't trust them...
No, you sure don’t teach your child that the act of setting fire is a bad thing by burning the arsonist alive in that fire.
Also repeating your antagonistic remark to insinuate those who have different view of things than you, than they must have a self-serving agenda, does not give it any more weight. It is a cheap shot no matter how many times gets repeated.

Of course, I am antagonsitic to militant Islamists/reformist and their sympathizers. Nothing new!
corrections, antagonsitic to those who differ in their views as you.
Exactly, nothing new as old habits die hard.
Mehrdad
I don't expect those who sympathize with Militant Islamist to understand or even care. I have grown accustomed to their dishonesty and cunning rhetoric about democracy. Absolutely, I will never accept Islamists and their sympathizers. I think I will hold on to this habit rather more stuanchly than ever before having had to face their deceit quite often. You can even say, the Islamist and their sympathizers have made me more resolute.
There is roughly one RCH difference between those who dismiss any thing they disagree with as “Islamists and their sympathizers” and those who dismiss their opponent as Zionist.
Since this conversation is void of any value for me, I better go and make better use of my time.
Cheers

LOL, glad you finally got the message.
See i just never understand this. Not my place and i don't mean to butt in, But...
Why is it that when someone takes a particular stance on something, accompanied with all the evidence and proper statements, she or he still is accused of harboring "antagonistic" sentiments.
That is such a loaded accusation.

DM Jon: Thanks for the vote of confidence. The blogger has a particular agenda and is impervious to facts since the very early days of Iranian.com. He/she reminds of another blogger 'abarmard'. I never take their anti-IRI stance seriously.
