Kiarostami comes to mind.
This is a good question. You are becoming better than me in survey questions.
Abseloutley! but it is not just confined to celeberties. It's all over the place, essentialy if it's not affecting me and my family directly then I am out of it.
These guys are prolonging the regime's life and giving them validity.
I refuse to watch any movie coming out of Iran, period!
These guys are as treasonous as the mullahs themselves!
Well are you saying all these film makers should leave Iran. What if for some reasons they can not?
Then how are they going to make their art?
You see I said this is a good question. It is.
I am NOT a fan of Iranian films too BUT also dont forget if we did not have these film makers there was no development in film making.
Good survey question dear Darius. I recently wrote a commentary about Saeed Raad (which I don't consider an artist but just a public figure) I criticized other ( public figures) for staying silent. As for an artist, I believe their first and highest responsibility is to their art. Think of your country-mate Monet who created most of his masterpieces in the comfort of his garden while Europe was going through "The long Depression", should he have become an activist against hunger and forget about painting? Or forcefully paint about a subject that he had no interest about it? As long as they don't become another "Mephisto", let artists be artists.
