SEPARATIST TEMPTATIONS: Don't Let It Fool You ... Treason Exists ... (blog published in Iranian.com on 25-Jul-2010 )
Danielle Mitterand (1924-2011): MKO & Kurdish Separatists pay tribute to France's First Lady
As someone who has separated himself from Iran by virtue of living in US, as someone who has by some definition commited "treason' by becoming another country's citizen , I am moraly obliged not to deny the same rights to "separation" and "treason" to my kurdish Iranian compatriots,!
I guess that makes me neutral on this subject :)
I disagree Your separation ( unless voluntarily based on a personal decision ) was not a matter of choice but one of forced exile.
In the case of those Kurds, Balouches or Azeris who wish to part from the nation and create a new one of their own making ... I have no other word for them: Traitors !
The historical roots for these separatist demands can be found in foreign interference dating back to the 1919 treaty of Versailles but also the foreign occupation of Iran during WW II ...
pictory: Soviet Propaganda Film - Iran, Tabriz 1945-46
Both Tsarist and Stalinist Russia encouraged it and so have the British and in recent years the French and even Israelis.
I will NEVER endorse any minority be them ethnic or regligious which confuses individual rights and legitimate democratic demands with an over the top separatist ransom ...
AMBUSHED: Ahvazi Separatists disrupt Crown Prince Reza's meeting in UK Parliament
Creation of a Kurdish nation is not as "inevitable" as it might seem.
The bulk of world's Kurdish population resides in Turkey (about 22 millions) & PKK has been the leading organization in there. As we all have been following Turkish state and PKK are in middle of negotiations to bring structural reforms into Turkish constitution, guaranteeing political & social Rights of all minorities in Turkey, including Kurds.
To make a long story short whatever happens to Kurds in Turkey will basically set the path for all other Kurdish minorities in Iraq, Iran and Syria, weather those other fellow Kurds in those countries like it or not.
In 21st century assimilation and bringing about reforms in laws and constitutions is much more preferred than armed struggle and starting a land locked nation (vulnerable to all kinds of external interference) from scratch.
I would not be surprised even though this would amount to breaking up Iran as she's known today which may be one way of lessening the "influence" of the islamist thugs in power and thereby their potential long-term effects on the region and its power structure.
The ghajars killed her and mullahs may setup the stage to take her apart.
Sad.
Agree with Hamal ,but again how we feel has nothing to do with geopolitical situation on the ground. Fact of the matter is, there are 30 million plus kurds out there (Larger land mass and more population than most countries in Europe) and who are we to tell them they are not entitled to their own state becuase some how we think it's a treason! I am not a Kurd but let's be honest who really wants to be part of IRI, Turkey and/or Syria!
Now let's say tomorrow majority of Kurds in Iran decide that they no longer want to be part of omatestan, so what are we going to do? bomb them like Russians did to chechens? ethinc cleans them like Turks did to Armenicans? send them goon and executation squads in in large numbers?
Thanks guys for commenting.
As MRX said, this question has nothing to do with our own stance on ths matter.
But just recently, reading in the news about how these kurdish and balooch political prisoners were executed in Iran over the past few weeks and the muted reaction from rest of us really somehow shocked me. It shocked me to realize what the islamist regime had known for some time. That is when you want to use the old terror tactic of hanging a few political prisoners to frighten the public, go for a balooch, kurd or khuzestani arab. Because the rest of Iranains, even the opposition, would be perceptive to the regime lies that these political prisoners were Separatists", "terrorists" and "smuglers". But Kurdish people did not stay silent. there were a number of demonstrations in Kurdestan. This tells me one thing: our fellow kurdish compatriots are learning not to expect much from "persians". They are learning that only they themselves are capable of saving themselves from this islamist tyrany. And you know where that kind of though would lead to.
Good point. Apparently the same people who whine about Palesteine day in and day out (They even gathered 1600 signatures plus to send to Makhmalbaf becuase he visited Isreal and offered peace and friendship) some how forgot about their own backyard and then wonder why some people want/talk independence. So what ever happend to "Bani Adadm azayeh yek digarand" or is that only for Palestine?
