Marxism like Islam is a top-down ideology with its prophet and the holy book that cannot be challenged by its followers.
The quote here is a prime example of a decree by the prophet to its followers. If you look at the Western European countries where religion and its rituals have become only a tradition and not a form of government or a way life, the transformation has been achieved through education, enlightenment, democracy and the freedom of expression, and not by abolition through a decree by some dude many decades ago.
While I have to agree with what Faranarz says, I can't help but to kind of wish for the religion to be beaten out of people by force. It's just such a destructive force. Religion is really the biggest plague upon humanity.
Religion and faith should not be mixed.
You can't take faith away from those who trully believe. It can only be an act of "personal" abolition, happens when people stop believing. What you can do, however, is fight to make sure the institutionalized faith, i.e.religion, and governance don't mix.
