In the 1950s, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, Shah of Iran, then divorced from his second wife, indicated his interest in marrying Princess Maria Gabriella.

Pope John XXIII reportedly vetoed the suggestion. In an editorial about the rumors surrounding the marriage of "a Muslim sovereign and a Catholic princess", the Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, considered the match "a grave danger," especially considering that under the 1917 Code of Canon Law a Roman Catholic who attempted to contract a marriage with a divorced person could incur the penalty of excommunication.

A secretive remote beach in the south

The photographer says that while he was in Armenia,  he heard though people a about an secluded remote island in the south of the country were the young go to swim.

Because the spot is so remote there is no government personnel around, allowing the young mix gender to socialize openly, put on their bathing suite, play music, dance and swim with each other.

Princess Soraya died on 26 October 2001 of undisclosed causes in her apartment in Paris, France; she was 69.

She was buried in the Westfriedhof Quarter Nr. 143, in a cemetery in Munich, Germany, along with her parents and later brother.
