Abbas Shirmohammadi, a Washington-based photographer known for his panoramic images, was born in Yazd, Iran. He moved to the U.S. in 1978 and founded Panoramic Visions Photography in 1985. He's been involved in creating images of every presidential inaugural since Ronald Reagan. He also has covered political conventions and other large events around the U.S. and the world.

Photography is a family tradition. Shirmohammadi is a fourth generation photographer. In addition to panoramas and political events, he has done portraits, including Nelson Mandela and Hillary Clinton); architectural; and aerial photos.
