PAAIA: The escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, caused by inflammatory rhetoric and belligerent behavior, heightens the possibility of unnecessary military conflict.

While the U.S. should always defend its national interests, only Congress has the constitutional authority to declare war on Iran. Legislation (S.1039 and H.R.2354) recently introduced in the House and Senate prohibits funding for an attack on Iran without congressional approval, aiming to prevent unconstitutional war with Iran.

U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) and  U.S. House Representative Anna Eshoo (D-CA/18th) are leading this bill through their respective chambers. Thank them and the bill's co-sponsors for their support and encourage other members of Congress to support the legislation, reaffirming Congress's constitutional authority to declare war.
