BILD has learned that on Thursday morning, the Ayatollah left the clinic where he was supposed to be receiving treatment for a brain tumor.

Shahroudi and his entourage who to Hamburg airport to fly to Tehran at 1.25 pm with the state-owned airline "Iran Air".

Shahroudi served as Iran's Judiciary Chief from 1999 - 2009. He is one of the most powerful and richest men in Iran.

During his time as head of Iran's Justice Ministry, he oversaw an estimated 2,000 executions, among them minors, rape victims, members of religious minorities and homosexuals.

At that time, prisoners in Iran's jails were systematically tortured and raped. According to human rights activists at least people were stoned to death and 100 minors were sentenced to death.
