SF Station:
"Today, a collective group of Bay Area music promoters, industry organizers, activists and more have come together to create and announce Peace, Love, and Understanding – a rally taking place on Saturday, August 26th at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza.
The family friendly event is set to run from 12PM until 5PM, rain or shine, and will be free for all attendees. The event will feature performances from artists like Bay Area native Michael Franti & Spearhead, San Francisco bluegrass band The Brothers Comatose, Mission District group Malo, comedian and playwright Marga Gomez, noted drag singer, actor and activist Bebe Sweetbriar, Bay Area hip hop outfit Mama’s Boyz and more, plus a wide range of activities for children of all ages.
“After learning about the Patriot Prayer rally set for Crissy Field this weekend, there was a fantastic community effort from a lot of different people to pull together this counter-rally,” said Dawn Holliday, one of the organizers of Peace, Love, and Understanding. “This is our way of stopping hate – through peace, love and understanding.”
