Saudis probably pushed for this so that they can show the Palestinians that they can get things done for them which will, in turn, pull them away from Iran and into Saudi's sphere of influence.

Since the Mexicans will be paying for the "Wall", the Saudis will be paying for Gazans behind the "Wall!" Bigly, Uuuuuge!
No one, including Israel, would object aid to Palestinians, since everyone knows Trump would not send money to Hamas but Abbas, who by the way, met with Rajavi a couple years ago. Supporting Abbas financially and politically would isolate Iran.
