I wish the Shah of Iran had died before the revolution like the King of Thailand  ...

 

The ideal of the monarchy would most certainly have survived despite his own offsprings frivolous and reckless behavior and he would not have gone down in history as some South American "dictator" who carried a so called "coup" against the not so "democratically elected" ( actually appointed) Qajar Prince turned PM. 

 

Additionally his Son and heir wouldn't have been in a position like today to squander his dad's good name because expectations would be so high to see him behave like a Royal Prince and not like some "celebrity" straight out of a cheap American TV Soap Opera. As such the heir to the Peacock Throne wouldn't even dare do or say anything which would tarnish his father's political and historical legacy. 

 

The Pahlavis fell from Heaven only to end up swimming in the gutter ...

 

Sigh ...
