Summary
Truck drivers began an indefinite strike in more than 70 cities in 24 provinces across Iran May 22 to protest low salaries, rising road tolls and insurance, and poor working conditions. The truckers have pledged to continue with their labor action until officials meet their demands.
Significant freight disruptions are likely in areas impacted by the work stoppage; businesses could experience broader supply chain problems if the strike becomes protracted. Striking truck drivers could also stage protests by blocking roads with their vehicles, causing general traffic disruptions and other ground travel delays. Clashes between police and participating truck drivers are possible, particularly if security forces attempt to end the strike by force.
Background and Analysis
It remains to be seen to what extent, if any, the government will acquiesce to the truckers' demands in an effort to reach a deal with them. Given Iran's reliance on trucking to transport most commodities and goods, the strike will very likely have a major impact on the nation's economy if an agreement ending the labor action is not concluded reasonably quickly. The country has witnessed an unprecedented number of protests and demonstrations since the beginning of 2018.
Protests in response to unemployment, poverty, poor working conditions, and corruption continue to occur on a daily basis across Iran.
I believe that the path to regime change in Iran goes through the following steps:
Street protests followed by general strikes, civil disobedience, and finally armed forces joining the people and topple the Regime. And somewhere in there, Sepah will initiate a coup which will exasperate things. Right now we are in the early stages of protests and strikes.
Let's hope that Trump/Pompeo/Bolton do not screw things up.
When the time is ripe, the regime will be changed.
So, the question is: Is it time yet, and has the country been deconstructed bad enough?
Let's hope we end up with some kind of military coup as soon as possible with either Sepah , Army or both. Its no longer a choice between democracy and dictatorship, its between survival and implosion. If it implodes it will be quite hard to put things back together in one piece. I also agree lets hope the three stooges (Trump/Pompeo/Bolton) don't touch anything.
Considering the state of present economy everyone should really go on strike.
