He's not a Pahlavi but rather Na Pahlavi
His interviews are filled with disingenuous comments and hypocrisy
Using his illustrious pedigree's name to destroy their intellectual and political legacy and in the process destroy the institution he was born to defend : The Monarchy.
In any other royal family he would be disavowed and replaced by a dignified heir.
The Shahbanou's silence on her son's Pro Republican Comments is also extremely disappointing and it is unfortunate that RP's behavior will shed a negative light on her Majesty's own image as the Queen who allowed her husband's legacy be squandered her son:
Shah of Iran's Last Will Read by the Empress Farah
Not surprising that Ardeshir Zahedi has also joined the critics ...
This is truly sad ! Because Her Majesty deserves better ...
The Shah and Reza Shah must be turning in their grave.
Don't You Dare speak on behailf of "Confused" Monarchists !
For One you are not one ... never was !
and two neither is this Traitor to his Father and Dynasty !
Oh and If by "Coalition" you mean all the NIAC band you treacherous lot have sided with since RP signed the Manshoor 91 drafted by NIAC er ramin Jahanbegloo which even Trita Parsi signed ...
Then indeed you can count us genuine partiots and monarchists out of your miserable coalition
https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2012/al-monitor/irancharter91.html
If anyone is confused is RP who has joined hands
with NIAC and his
father's enemies in the diaspora
DK, just 2 weeks ago Fred, stated he supports constitutional monarchy as long as the king plays a symbolic role! How can you say he is not a monarchist? I am not speaking on his behalf at all, that's what he said!
FRed is not a monarchist no more than is RP who under the influence of ex revolutionaries like Ali Reza Nourizadeh and Mohsen Sazegara promoted the idea that the the legitimacy of the monarchy had to be subject to a referendum.
In otherwords Khomeiny's "hichi" was legitimate. That those like Fred and other jomhurykhah likeminds consider that the Shah's last will is not enough to express what the late Shah wanted. It is up to RP to translate what can be heard loud and clear in the Shah's last will read by the shahbanou where he INSISTS on RP respecting the 1906 Constitution.
If you consider spitting on your dead father and in the eyes of the world acting against his last will ... then I guess we don't have the same understanding of the word : "confused"
RP and his supporters who are not even monarchists but ex leftists, young clueless millenials whose naivity and good heart RP exploits to sell his disingenuous agenda knowing that they do not have the historical memory or references to judge for themselves. So RP "generously" wants to "explain" to them wuth his "paternalistic" diatribe what to think and what happened ... when in fact that is his own distorted convenient lies which will allow him to escape accountability for his own lack of courage, incompetence but more importantly betrayal.
He is betraying in the open the memory of all the great men and women who served under his father and the imperial flag by openly supporting a Republic as "greater" than a monarchy.
After years of life in america drinking coolade and eating Fast food I guess He sees his father as some "South American Dictator" ... and not the dignified heir of 25 centuries of persian monarchy and civilization. Hence his infatuation with all things western. He even sounds apologetic in front of French and American, German and British Journalists who he has no guts nor intellect to challenge because fundamentally he is ashamed of his father who "tortured" people and was "corrupt" and "wealthy" ... That is what he thinks fundamentally in his rotten heart about his father.
He hardly has raised his kids to think of themselves as Royals either ... they hardly speak persian.
And his wife's anti monarchist feeling were also expressed in her first interview with Barbara Walters whom the Shah would often easily challenge yet RP shys away.
In the interview with Barbara Walters shortly after Sept 11th, Princess Yasmine was asked if she felt like a Royal ... and her response was not at all ...
Then when challenged why were you living in a palace of your own ... RP like a scolded boy apologetically said ... "believe it or not there was no room"
Contrast the responses of this Be Hovyat Americanized Shahrvand with that of the Proud and dignified Shah who would respond to the impertient foreign journalists and you can easily see that RP is in total contradiction with everything the Shah embodied for iranians and in the history of Iranzamin.
So no none of these supporters of RP, Fred Included are Monarchists let alone the man they are championing as an opponent of the IRI when in fact he is nothing less than a spoiled brat raised in priviledge wondering why he was expected to have such larger than life responsibilites which he himself cannot handle nor pass on to his children.
Yet he allows himself to arrogantly chastise monarchists many of whom have done more for Iran and the monarchy than he ever did in his entire lifetime or ever will do.
He is highjacking his father's name and his dynastical heritage to squander it and insult it in the light of the day as he did when he appeared on tv hardly shaved and with a crooked neck tie and arrogantly called bold Iranians demonstrating in Pasargarde and wishing him a Happy Birthday " "Fascists".
Proving if needed that he is nothing more than an insensitive spoiled bastard at best.
Or as the French would say: " Reza Tu es un Connard Prétentieux ! "
Hi @Darius
What is yr take on this: http://www.lepoint.fr/monde/les-derniers-secrets-du-shah-d-iran-12-12-2015-1989410_24.php ?
Thx.
Hi Rea Jan
Amir Aslan's book is interesting and got good reviews here in FRance.
But what is even more interesting is the revelations he made on how the Shah was forced into making his disastrous speach acknowledging the revolution.
In a recent interview Aslan admitted that the Shah was reluctant to read the speach drafted for him
by the Shahbanou's secretariat and close advisors belonging to the Institute of the dialogue of civilzations : Hossein Nasr, Reza Gotbi and Daryoush Shayegan all harboring Pro Republican and anti monarchist convictions took advantage of the ill monarchy torn by doubt to force him to
read the speach which was to seal the fate of the monarchy.
Interestingly Nasr's son Vali Nasr an "Iran expert" at Tufts happens to be close to the IRI lobby in the United States NIAC.
Nasr himself made several trips back to IRan without ever being hurt and greeted warmly by former president Khatami.
This could explain why Ardeshir Zahedi blames the Empress for her negative influence or clumsy meddling in the Shah's fatal decisions towards the end of his reign but also for the poor upbringing of her Son who today advocates a Republic and not the restoration of the monarchy as his father would have wished.
Thx Darius, have already ordered the book from Amazon.fr.
One more question and won't pester you again, promise. :)
How much truth there is in this:
