For the past 40 years the Russians have used Iran as a bargaining chip in their various dealings and/or contests with the U.S. and in their greater regional dealings with Saudi Arabia, Israel, etc., and in the process they have screwed Iran time and again. And the Iranian people --not just the government, but the people--still lick Russians' b***s. Let's not forget that almost all of Saddam's weapons during the war with Iran--including his missles and aircraft that were used to carpet bomb Iranian cities--came from Russia. But the average Iranian blames the U.S. for its supposed support for Saddam! And what about the whole S-300 fiasco, where they gave Iran the run around for seven years and got all kinds of concessions out of the U.S. before they delievered them? God knows what kind of deals Putin has in mind with Trump, and how it will sell Iran down the river this time around.

PS- Russia is already selling S-400 missiles and other weapons to Saudi Arabia.

To be fair, the US of A has contributed to Europe's salvation and democracy at least 3 times, during the first and the second world wars and the cold war against communism.

AO: I agree with you that Russia has certainly proven time and again that throughout history they have been masters of double-play and betrayal.

Agreed to the pre WWII but my question was for the last 20-30 years, especially after the fall of Soviet Union.  This is all in the back drop of how many dictators have remained in power primarily due to the backing of the US of A, Saudi Arabia is a perfect example.

A humilating defeat for Trump and Trumpism last night in Virginia and New Jersey. Americans are taking their country back, one state at a time.

Gillespie (Virgina Republican candiate for Governorship) embraced Trump and his hate message and it back fired. In fact Virginia is the only (respublican) state that trump didn't carry last year. One of the reports said that women's vote (especially in Northern Virginia, where redneck concentration is low) were a major factor for this guy's defeat last night.

In any case, this shows that negative campagining only works some of the time, but not all the time.

And I encourage the Iranian Trumpizoids not lose Hope and wait for the regime Change.

Putin's ultimate goals are being realized: a weak and divided West that wouldn't give his Russian expansionist empire any more troubles in Europe and Middle East. He is really loving the crises with Trump in US and May in UK.

Putin is also loving the fact that the US has never been divided like she is now! Lots of CONseravtives  actually hate that this numbnut won the Electoral Vote - but won't say it. Instead, they say he's better than the alternative. What a mentality!

Not a shred of Proof yet that any russians at any level has even entertained the idea of interfering with our elections, and frankly those who fathom that are doing it out of disrespect and disdain toward this great country.

Blaming one person for causing all this mess in the states and elsewhere amounts to hitting rock bottom for those who have run out of all plausible and rational explanations.
