To protest President Trump’s indefinite suspension of allowing refugees from Syria into U.S. and stop issuing and not honoring already issued entry visas to citizens of 7 countries including Iran, Asghar Farhadi, whose “The Salesman” is nominated for the foreign-language film Oscar, has boycotted coming to America and attending the ceremony.

Variety:

“Two prominent Iranian Americans, engineer Anousheh Ansari, known as the first female space tourist, and Dr. Firouz Naderi, director of Solar Systems Exploration at NASA, will represent Iranian auteur Asghar Farhadi and his film “The Salesman” at the upcoming Oscars ceremony, Farhadi’s publicist has announced.”

After the Islamist fascist revolution millions of Iranians have had to flee Iran for their lives, Hollywood has been blessed by many Iranian actors, directors, writers, sound engineers…

Using Sanction and boycott are the civilized way of showing disapproval of something. However, the choice of two space-related Iranian engineers representing an Iranian movie director at the Oscar ceremony seems a rather strange one.

Question:

Wouldn’t recognized Iranian-American  actors, directors, … been a better and more apt choice, actresses like Shohreh Aghdashloo, previously nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, or any from the long list of the “Persians in Hollywood”?

Sanction works, U.S. Senate, get to it.
