George Percy Churchill was a British Diplomat who served in Iran during Ahmad Shah Qajar's reign and afterwards in the Near East section of the Foreign Office. He had studied the Persian Language, speaking it fluently.  He was reputed to have committed some 10,000 lines of Persian poetry by the greats of Iranian Literature to memory quoting relevant lines in conversations and correspondence as a literary Iranian would do.

In 1906 he compiled a book of biographical notes on the Iranian politicians and the ruling elite which included samples of their seals and coats of arms. His book has been translated to Persian called Farhang e Rejal e Iran.
